Abdul Qadir lives with his mother and siblings at the home of his maternal uncle near the Ibrahim Hyderi harbor in Karachi. His parents are separated, and he helps his uncle by working in a small neighborhood shop. He does not attend school.
One day, after being scolded by his uncle, he became upset and decided to run away. He left the shop and wandered through the streets until he found himself far from home, lost and frightened.
As he stood by the roadside, a group of men in a car approached him. They spoke kindly and offered to help him find his way back. They persuaded him to get into the car and began driving away. After a long drive, Abdul grew increasingly scared and began to realize that something was wrong.
At some point, the men noticed a police checkpoint ahead. In a panic, they turned down a side street with a dead end. There, they pushed Abdul out of the car, told him to stay silent, and drove off.
Alone and terrified, he spent the night on the streets. By morning, someone found him and brought him to a police station. With Roshni Helpline’s assistance, his family was located, and he was finally returned home safely.
The experience left him shaken but safe.
