Abdul Qadir, 9 years old

9-year-old Abdul Qadir lives with his mother and siblings at the home of his maternal uncle. His parents are separated. The boy does not go to school and works at his uncle’s small shop in the neighborhood. They live near the Ibrahim Hyderi harbor. 

One day, Abdul Qadir was scolded by his uncle and he was so upset that he decided to run away. He left from his uncle’s shop and started wandering the streets. Eventually he found himself in unknown surroundings and got scared. He must have shown some visible signs of a lost and distressed child.

Some men approached him in a car, were very friendly with him and promised to help him get back home. However, the men were trying to abduct him. They drove in the car for a long time and the boy became increasingly frightened and began to understand what was going on. 

He got very lucky, there was probably a police check post ahead because the men became suddenly very tense and turned into a side street, but it was a dead end. Then the men threw the child out of the car and warned him to stay there and be quiet, then they drove away.

The child was devastated after this ordeal, and spent the night on the streets in fear. Eventually somebody took him to a police station, and with the help of Roshni, the boy’s family was traced and he was returned home safely.
