13-year-old Ghulam Qadir is differently abled. He lives in a village on the outskirts of Karachi. He spends part of the year at home and part of the year at a madrasa in rural Sindh.Â
Once, while returning home from the madrasa, he got separated at a roadside stop and was missing for 2 months.Â
We are not sure exactly what happened to him next. Someone probably took him to Karachi and he might have been on the streets for some time, and then at a shrine. Eventually he was taken to a shelter home in Karachi, where Roshni found him and brought him back
Ghulam Qadir does not speak and so was not able to recount his ordeal. But it is clear that he went through a very difficult time and was very happy to be back home.
In his village, he spends his time playing with his brothers and cousins and generally wandering around the village. He loves taking care of the many animals and plays with them a lot.
