Luqman, 10 years old

Luqman ran away from home after taking a large sum of money, about 70,000 rupees, from his family. It’s unclear what prompted him to leave, but it’s believed he may have been lured or manipulated by someone who gained his trust.

According to Luqman, after leaving home he reached the Ibrahim Hyderi harbor, where a fisherman invited him to spend the night on his boat. The man then robbed him. The remaining details of what happened are uncertain, but Luqman was found roughly a week later.

This recent case raises many questions and is still being looked into. Ibrahim Hyderi is far from Luqman’s home, and no one understands how or why he went there. The amount of money he took was significant for his family, suggesting that someone may have influenced his decision. Roshni suspects there may have been an element of sexual abuse, or a cycle of abuse that led to Luqman leaving with such a large amount of money. 

Thankfully, he is now home and spends much of his time helping out at his father’s small shop with his siblings. He lives with his family in illegal slum settlements on the outskirts of Karachi.
